Till Behrens is a German architect, urban planner and industrial designer. He mainly taught design, building construction, architectural theory, urban and landscape planning, product design and layout at the University of Stuttgart and the Design University in Offenbach am Main. The Minister of the Interior appointed Behrens as a member of the expert committee of the Chamber of Architects, of which he was a member for ten years.
In the early 1960s, Behrens developed the cross swing, a piece of seating and lying furniture that can swing evenly forward and back without any mechanism and adapts to any change in position. This chair is included in numerous national and international museums and was the first piece of seating furniture in history to legally receive extensive copyright protection for ‘applied art’.
