Ron Arad ‘Voido’ chair for MAGIS

Israeli Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv and graduated as an architect in London in 1979. Arad is sometimes called ‘the plate bearer of design’: hi-fi systems made of reinforced concrete or oversized armchairs made of welded steel are his trademark. Arad founded his own company in 1981 and called it ‘One Off’, a popular expression in English for ‘something unique’.

Voido is an unconventional and very special rocking chair that reminds us a bit of contemporary sculpture. The chair was created based on Magis’ industrial technology, which allowed it to produce cast polyethylene with very large shapes.
