Keith Haring is an American artist, born in Pennsylvania on May 4, 1958. The art that Keith Haring made is sometimes referred to as pop art, but the terms graffiti art and modern art are also used.
Keith was the eldest of four children. His love for drawing was evident from an early age. His father, who also drew a kind of comic strips, turned out to be an important source of inspiration. Books and museums introduced him to modern art and the work of Andy Warhol influenced him. He studied at the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh, but the commercial aspect of the course did not appeal to him. So he left school. In 1978 he had his first important exhibition in Pittsburgh.
