Cesare "Joe" Colombo was trained at the 'Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera', the academy of fine arts, in Milan until 1949 as a painter and then studied Architecture at the 'Politecnico di Milano' University until 1954.
In 1951 he joined the 'Movimento Nucleare', founded by Sergio Dangelo and Enrico Baj. For the next four years, Colombo was active as an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor, exhibiting his works with other members in Milan, Turin, Verviers, Venice and Brussels.
The trolley was produced by B-Line and later also for Bieffeplast. The design is from ca. 1969 and launched in 1970 and was awarded first prize at SMAU in 1971 and is part of the permanent collection of both the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the "Triennale" in Milan.
